Legal Secretary/Receptionist

Due to the on-going arrival of new clients to the firm and the increase in work from existing clients we require a legal secretary/receptionist to work with our existing secretarial team in our busy Altrincham offices.  The role involves secretarial work for four days a week and receptionist duties for one day a week (as well as reception holiday cover).  The secretarial work includes a mix of work from our corporate/commercial, commercial property and private client departments and will include:

  • Audio typing
  • Filing
  • Preparing correspondence and documents to be sent out by post and email
  • Document amendments and completion of forms
  • Making appointments, arranging meetings and maintaining an up to date diary
  • Reception cover

The successful candidate should be able to highlight similar experience from their current or previous roles. Previous legal secretarial experience is an advantage.  An ability to work well with others and to produce high quality work is essential.

Commercial Property Solicitor 0-4 Years PQE

Due to the ongoing arrival of new clients to the firm and the increase in commercial property work from existing clients, we are looking to expand our Commercial Property Department with the addition of a 0-4 years PQE lawyer.  The department currently consists of a team of 6 including a Head of Department Partner, a Partner, one 17 year PQE senior solicitor, two 10 year PQE senior solicitors and a 2 year PQE assistant solicitor.

The firm is based in Altrincham in an affluent area of South Manchester/North Cheshire.  The department’s “strong reputation” is recognised by the Legal 500 and the firm is a member of the MSI Global Alliance of Independent law firms and a member of the UK200 Group.

The position would suit someone with a good academic background and training who is looking to gain experience and maintain a good quality of work in a team orientated environment.  Candidates are required to have good commercial property experience, ideally at a large commercial firm.  Candidates will also need to demonstrate an ability to develop high levels of technical skill and strong client relationships.

Requirements:

0-4 years PQE.

Job Description:

Assisting partners and conducting own work under partner supervision on a wide range of commercial property matters.  The clients are predominantly owner-managed small, medium and large enterprises in the North West and further afield.

Typical matters are:

  • sales and purchases of the full range of property, including offices, industrial, retail and development sites;
  • Landlord and Tenant lease work acting for both for Landlords and Tenants;
  • asset management work for property investor clients;
  • secured lending work for banks and other financial institutions;
  • corporate support property work for corporate transactions.

This role would suit candidates with an ability to work as a team and also independently in a supportive environment, are commercial and decisive and who are able to respond to client’s urgent requirements.  Candidates should have an ability and willingness to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and other departments of the firm.  The role will also provide scope for the successful candidate to be involved in practice development not only for the Department but also for the other legal services offered by the firm.

Experienced non-contentious Commercial solicitor
(Maternity cover – 8 months from August 2013)

We are looking for an experienced non-contentious Commercial solicitor.

The Department consists of a team of 6 including the Head of Department (Partner), the Managing Partner, 2 senior assistant solicitors (one of which is due to go on maternity leave in August/September 2013) and two assistant solicitors. The firm is based in Altrincham in an affluent area of South Manchester/North Cheshire. A large number of these are software houses and service providers.

  • IT, E-Commerce & Telecoms contracts
  • Software development, licensing and hosting agreements
  • Web-development agreements
  • Data Protection
  • Advice on copyright, trade marks, design rights, database rights, patents and other intellectual property assistance with UK, EU and International Trade Marks, Patents and Design Rights applications and registration
  • Assignment and licensing of intellectual property rights
  • Joint IP ownership and development agreements
  • Franchising
  • Competition law
  • Outsource / consultancy / procurement agreements
  • Joint venture and collaboration agreements
  • Commercial contracts and trading agreements
  • Standard terms of business
  • Supply, agency and distribution agreements

This role would suit candidates with an ability to work as a team and also independently in a supportive environment, are commercial and decisive and who are able to respond to client’s urgent requirements.
